Referred to as an academic artist by some and a literary artist by others, I have a BA (Hons) Painting, an MA in Art and Design, a research and practice based M.Phil in Fine Art and a Lorado Taft Fellowship from Purdue University in the U.S.A. On the strength of a 2017 solo exhibition at The Portico Library in Manchester, I was able to spend some time in the Forensic Archaeology Department in the University of Central Lancashire in Preston where I observed the forensic processes which inform my work. I have exhibited work in group exhibitions in Malta and Edinburgh supported by The Richard De Marco Foundation, in Chicago with the support of the John David Mooney Art Foundation.

I have participated in group shows in Manchester (Bankley Studios and Gallery, Paper and PS Mirabel, in Salford with Suite Studios, PR1 Gallery in Preston and in Bolton with Neo Art Gallery. I have had solo exhibitions in Stockport Art Gallery, Bankley Art Gallery, The Portico Library in Manchester and Linden Mill Gallery in Hebden Bridge. My recent activities include curating and exhibiting 60 Drawings + 10 at The Whitaker Museum and Art Gallery in 2022 and in 2024, collaborating and exhibiting there with artist Deirdre Kelly (Ireland and Venice) when I exhibited an artists book for the first time.

I am now researching drawing for sculpture so that my large works can be re-assembled in different spaces to form part of site-specific installations in response to different mill environments and any debris found there. Current drawings are becoming semi-sculptural with gridded underdrawings and poured house paint which is then scarred and scraped into and the paint debris re-cycled into new sculptural assemblages. My materials include champagne wires and studio debris such as old frames and imperfect or ageing papers collected from various artists studios (all donations welcomed).
