Rachel Hawthorn’s art is inspired by the rhythms and cycles of the natural world. Her work is rooted in spending time walking and being present in nature, gathering and foraging for materials, and transforming them using traditional craft techniques such as dyeing, felting, and weaving.

Everything she produces is intended to leave little trace and to be fully biodegradable, forming part of a gentle and harmonious life cycle that does no harm. This approach is shaped by Rachel’s work as a death doula and shroud maker, where she supports people at the end of life, and their families, to find comfort before, during, and after death.
