In January of this year I exhibited a collaborative installation “The Medicine Spoon Memorial”. Which was part of a two year journey of exploring the inherited ancestral trauma of the witch hunts during 1450-1750 in the U.K. The exhibition “I AM WITCH” took place in Lancaster. The work of the memorial is still ongoing and there are plans for another exhibition in the U.K.
Currently I am creating a new body of work titled “Shrouded in Love”. I am reflecting on my own maternal ancestry. Discovering new ways to remember and celebrate love ones. Also addressing the ancestral trauma and patterns, passed down the through the generations. In the work I will be highlighting the significance of symbolism, ceremony and sacredness. I am aiming to inspire commuinties and individuals to enable creative involvement when remembering loved ones with a hope that this will aid the grieving process.
I am working with preloved fabrics, printing, natural dying and hand embroidery.
