Alongside various painting projects, my current practice explores autobiographical themes framing personal and family histories within the context of the current socio-political climate, exploring relationships between the past and present. Working in mixed media and film, this work attempts to explore social, cultural and political themes through the act of storytelling, often involving a participatory and collaborative element to document both my own and other’s personal histories. A passionate advocate of socially engaged arts practice, I also work as a community artist and artist educator, and actively seek out opportunities to collaborate with various community groups, previously designing and delivering arts projects for various charities, NHS services, prisons, homelessness shelters, refugee services, care homes, and various galleries, educational and community arts organisations. I have also taught in both mainstream schools and alternative education provisions, pupil referral units and youth services, and have provided digital media training for various commercial enterprises. I have run my own arts tutoring and mentoring business since 2015, working with both academic students and adult learners.

Originally from Greater Manchester and based in London since 2012, I have recently moved back to my native north and chose Hebden Bridge for its vibrant arts scene and creative community. The beautiful countryside to walk and cycle in is a rather wonderful bonus, too! It is my hope to secure a space and become a member at one of the many amazing studios the town has to offer as soon as the lockdown restrictions allow, to both work on my own practice and to run my tutoring business from.
