I enjoy creating realist portraiture and use colour, composition and mark-making to express character and personality. Portraits are a thoughtful and collaborative process between the artist and the sitter, capturing something of the essence of a person, rather than just a physical likeness. I have completed a 1 year portraiture diploma with classically trained artist Louis Smith.

My heart is in portrait painting but I am also inspired by a love of the outdoors and of nature. My frequent ramblings around the moors and woodlands of the Calder Valley give me a deep sense of connection with this landscape and inspire me to create paintings which seek to capture a sense of place, light and atmosphere.
