Applications for our December event are now open!

Members and non-members are now invited to join us to take part in our December Open Studios’ event: Hebden Makes Christmas. Applications are open now!

Are you an artist or maker in or around Hebden Bridge or the Upper Calder Valley creating visual art and craft? Then you are welcome to join us – we welcome artists and craftspeople based within 6 miles of Hebden Bridge.

Annual membership for Full Members, taking part in the main July event, is due in January / February in each year and lasts for one year, with membership fees and renewals due at the point when applications are made to be part of our July event the following Jan / Feb. At this point in the year you can join Hebden Bridge Open Studios to take part in the winter event, by paying £20 more than existing members.

There’s a list of reasons to join us for our Christmas event:

• Open your own studio or join one of our Art & Craft Fairs for our wonderful Christmas event (please note: no consumable products such as food, soap, candles).
• Inclusion in our leaflets and maps widely distributed locally, to our mailing list and to all the art galleries in the region.
• Promotion of the Christmas event by our dedicated publicity team via social media, flyers, banners, posters and via traditional news media
• Your own page on our website with your contact details, links, more detailed information, images and videos.
• Support with the technical side of logging in to edit your page. It really is quite straightforward once you know how.
• Member access to behind the scenes artist only areas of the website.
• Informal social events for HBOS artists to network and discuss each other’s work and ideas.
• Be promoted on our social media, collaborate with us on Instagram.

Please note that from July 2025 applications for membership and events are subject to acceptance of our full terms and conditions (HBOS member terms and conditions July 2025) and to the artist / maker meeting both elements of the membership eligibility criteria:

1. Artists and makers must live, or have a permanent studio, within a 6 mile radius of Hebden Bridge town centre (see the map below for the extent of this radius).

2. Artists / makers must be producing art or craft items: makers of goods and commodities that require regular replacement, such as candles, soap, and foodstuffs  are not eligible to join Hebden Bridge Open Studios.

Artists who joined or renewed HBOS membership earlier in 2025 (either as an Associate or Full Member – participating in July 2025 Open Studios event) are all eligible for the December 2025 event.

December 2025: Open your own studio

Costs:
Current HBOS members (full members and associate members):
£40 per individual artist to open your own studio and be included in the event.

New members:
£60 to join HBOS for this event and open your studio.

What you get:
– your own page on our website where you can add contact details, web and shop links plus your own text and as many images as you like.

– promotion of the Christmas event by our dedicated publicity team via social media, leaflets, banners, posters and via traditional news media

Location:
This is a winter event and outlying individual studios may struggle. If you are not close to the centre of Hebden Bridge or Mytholmroyd we recommend joining a central location with other artists or applying for the art and craft fairs (deadline 31 August 2025).

Application deadline Sunday September 14 if you want to open your own studio. If opening your own studio you can choose not to open on the Friday if you prefer.
