Josephine is intrigued by the alchemical and often unpredictable nature of the felting process. She enjoys working with rich colours, transforming a myriad of wool, plant fibres, threads and fabrics into felted relief and sculptural pieces. She also makes a eclectic range of unique fibre felted jewellery embellished with embroidery and wire, some using up-cycled materials.
Latest work includes needle felted drum beaters and large felted pets/animals made to commission
Sources of inspiration include the vast oceans surrounding our lands with elements of primal and ancient symbols. Sometimes incorporating discarded detritus into the artwork relevant to a place or moment in time. Or embedding found organic matter juxtaposing photographs, that she has taken within the layered, textural surface.
