Inspired by the countryside surrounding my home in Hebden Bridge, West Yorkshire, I use colour as a visual language through my jewellery, together with inspirations from sculpture & patterns. My initial designs and sketches tell a story; I love to doodle and draw & then take them to the workbench to experiment & play, before taking the elements back to the drawing board to create stylish wearable jewellery.
Colour plays an important part in my work from the metals I love to use – cool silver, Vibrant blues from titanium, & warm earthy tones from copper & brass.
All the pieces are hand made, making each piece unique, piercing the fine details with a saw, soldering & inlaying contrasting metals & carving light & detailed patterns with a pendant drill.
Bold and dynamic, the ‘Geometrics’ collection uses contrasting colours and shapes to create a work of art. I am inspired by Miro and Barbara Hepworth as well as Lucienne Day’s textile designs & many thing mid century. Sculpture and colour sit together in this collection.
Pebbles & Circles – This collection has an earthy feel to it, inspirations are naturally sourced, bringing together found objects, rocks, and neutral shapes from the sea, lakes and rivers. Returning to nature, seeking the outdoors and creating a space for calm, peace and quiet.
The Birds & flowers collection simply comes from being in nature, every day gardening, walking, watching the emerging & passing of the seasons, buds, birds & flowers.
