I like to celebrate wild creatures in their natural habitats and special places of character, and sometimes a crossover of the two. I work a lot in linocut and screen printing and sometimes mix both techniques in one print. I usually create bold simplified images with limited colour palettes and enjoy the restrictions of the techniques as well as the infinite possibilities.

I really enjoy teaching the printmaking classes at Northlight Art School and, as well as loving the creative atmosphere, this has the effect of keeping me being experimental in other techniques such dry point etching, monoprinting and collagraph.

My prints of creatures in the natural world seem to resonate with other people’s connection to nature, their spottings of animals and birds, and a collective desire to protect these species and their habitats. It is becoming obvious to more and more people that modern human life has become totally unsustainable on the planet. Our connection to nature maybe the starting point that causes the necessary transformation. Some of my prints highlight possible paths to a sustainable future.

I also make a range of products using my printed images. I try and create useful and beautiful products using sustainable materials and companies with good working practices. This is the great thing about buying things from independent artists and makers, they are very likely to have thought about, agonised even, about the resources, processes, labour and transport and that goes into the creation of each product.
