My paintings are a way of celebrating and holding onto moments which feel enveloping: a laburnum tunnel in full bloom, the buzz of an abundant meadow, the sudden illumination of woodland after rain.
They begin with real places I visit and the times I stop to simply notice, recapturing something of the feeling of being there, fully present, with a sense of connection to something much bigger than ourselves.
I build up layers of thick, colour-rich paint like soil and roots into textured surfaces that catch changing light and seem to shift, echoing the wonder of the natural world and bringing the energy of living moments into everyday spaces, inviting pause and a sense of connection amid the pressures of daily life.
I especially love sharing my work here in Hebden Bridge and have a selection of pieces rooted in Calderdale landscapes.
