I am an artist and designer with a background in theatre, fine art and textiles. MAPWORKS is a development of the furniture I design for public buildings, upholstered with large-scale maps and text.
After creating lounges for London’s Royal Festival Hall that included chairs with integrated speakers, I have designed TALKING CHAIRS for libraries, schools, museums and historic buildings.
My artwork for public spaces includes three large sculptural chairs for Chester Zoo for a festival of art and gardens visited by over a million people. A highlight of the project was working with the zoo’s horticultural team to design permanent gardens to surround the chairs.
My largest artwork to date was a 200 metre landscape artwork for a hilltop, made to celebrate the Tour de France starting in Yorkshire. The design depicts a murmeration of starlings.
